EWL | Empowering Women as Leaders is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women in financial need so they can achieve their highest potential. Simply put, we provide college scholarships, mentoring and networking to these deserving women so they can continue pursuing their college degree without financial challenges. We know our work matters. With our well-rounded approach beyond just financial scholarships, EWL Alumni graduate with an average GPA of 3.65 and graduation rate of 83%, substantially higher than the national average.

Tabatha Erck
As an experienced CEO with over 20 years of board experience, Dr. Tabatha Erck brings extensive fundraising expertise to her role as Director of Fundraising and Sponsorships to the Empowering Women Leaders (EWL) Board of Directors. Outside of EWL, Dr. Erck is the President and CEO at Zipari. Prior to joining Zipari, Dr. Erck served as CEO for Fulcrum Health, Inc. and COO at Remedy. Char Chmielewski
Char Chmielewski currently serves as VP, Payer Enterprise Service and Field Readiness at Optum. In this role Char leads a team of seasoned professionals that drives client satisfaction, operational execution and sales preparedness to drive Optum’s payer growth strategy. Char has over 29 years in the health care space with a strong customer centric background having held leadership positions across client service, implementation and call center operations. Char received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and her Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas. Outside of work, Char enjoys time with family and friends and especially loves pickleball, skiing, walking and doing other fun and community minded activities. Donna Geringer Donna Geringer has been a driving force behind business development, sales, client retention, and revenue growth in the commercial and government sectors, collaborating with regional and national healthcare payers as well as national account employers for over 25 years. Her career journey began at HealthLink, an Anthem Inc. subsidiary, where she played a pivotal role during her 19-year tenure, contributing significantly to the organization's ascent as a leading competitor in the regional healthcare market. In her final role at Anthem as VP of Sales, Donna led three major sales organizations: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Missouri, HealthLink, and The Epoch Group (a Third-Party Administrator), showcasing her adept leadership and strategic acumen. Her expertise extends across a spectrum of leadership positions at prominent entities such as AMC Health, Davis Vision (a Highmark company), UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, and Kepro. Today, in her capacity as Senior Vice President at Endear Health, she spearheads the sales organization. MSN, RN is an experienced Healthcare leader with over 15 years of demonstrated history of working in the healthcare industry. She has a proven track record of success in Operations Processes, Healthcare Leadership, Medical Management, and Process Efficiency. She serves as a Senior Director of Utilization Management for Centene Corporation. She is a proud double-dolphin, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Leadership in Healthcare Systems from Jacksonville University. Jackie Phillips
Director of Regional Sales at Phonak, leads a regional sales and training team for one of the world's foremost hearing aid manufacturers. Jackie has over 24 years of experience in the hearing industry, including sales and management roles at SafKan Health, Natus Medical, Siemens Hearing, as well as clinical service at the Houston Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic. Beyond her professional experience, Jackie actively contributes her time and expertise to industry organizations such as the American Academy of Audiology as well as non-profits outside of her industry, serving as a board member on the American Diabetes Association as well as serving on leadership committees at the Junior League of Houston and Empowering Women as Leaders (EWL). |

Sara Yepez
I am currently a Manager of Data Analytics and Website Applications with Superior HealthPlan. I have been with Superior HealthPlan for almost 12 years. I began with Superior HealthPlan as a front line staff member and over the years I was able to leverage my experience over the years to become a Manager. My team and I oversee Provider and Member Applications to assist with accomplishing innovative ideas as well as any technical issues. I have four beautiful girls, 15, 14, 12 and 4, that keep me going and pushing to make this world a little bit better of a place for them when they grow up. On my free time I enjoy watching them play softball, volleyball and dance. |
